The previous programme of works due to take place north of Penn Inn roundabout has been amended by both Galliford Try and South West Highways who are responsible for the Teign Viaduct works.  Consultation between both companies takes place on a regular basis to minimise disruption to road users.

The revised programme is:

  • Friday 11th to Monday 14th September (inclusive) – 24 hour lane closure southbound, to remain in place.
  • Friday 11th and Saturday 12th September 19:00 to 07:00 - overnight closure of the northbound carriageway between Penn Inn and Ware Barton (A381 Teignmouth Road). Traffic to be diverted through Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton via the racecourse.
  • Sunday, 13th September 19:00-07:00 - overnight closure of the southbound carriageway between Ware Barton and Penn Inn. Traffic to be diverted through Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton via the racecourse.
  • Monday 14th to Friday 18th September 19:00-07:00 - various overnight closures of both the southbound and northbound carriageways between Ware Barton and Penn Inn. Traffic to be diverted through Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton via the racecourse.

Over the next week, the operations carried out by Galliford Try to tie into the new flyover and off-slips from the A380 will involve planing and laying of the new road surface. This work can be noisy at times but measures are taken to reduce unnecessary operations during the night and operatives are reminded to consider local residents during these out of hours work shifts.
