Galliford Try has announced the next phase of works at Kerswell Gardens, which will see traffic using two new bridges for the first time.
On Monday night (21st September), work will take place at Hamelin Way to switch the traffic onto the new carriageway. This will require an overnight road closure of Hamelin Way.
On Tuesday morning (22nd September), motorists driving from Gallows Gate Roundabout towards Kerswell Roundabout will use the new Hamelin Way carriageway, which will travel over the two new bridges adjoining Hamelin Way.
Traffic travelling from the opposite direction will remain on the existing Hamelin Way carriageway.
This traffic switch will allow traffic to continue flowing in both directions whilst creating space in the central reserve area to install safety barriers, kerbs and drainage works along with traffic signal installations at Kerswell Gardens.,
This traffic layout will remain in place until work on the road is complete.
The programme is as follows:
- Monday 21st - Tuesday 22nd September (inclusive) from 21:00-06:00:overnight closure of Hamelin Way. Traffic will be diverted through Shiphay from Gallows Gate Roundabout.
- Monday 5th to Friday 9th October (inclusive) from 21:00-06:00: overnight closure of Hamelin Way. Surfacing works to the new Kerswell Gardens junction will take place, including the approach roads: Rivieria Way and Hamelin Way.
Throughout the works, diversion routes will be signposted and advance notices will be in place to advise road users.
Residents in the vicinity are also being notified that construction will continue at night and some noise may be inevitable due to the nature of the works. This will be kept to a minimum.
As with any construction programme, activities of this nature are weather-dependent and subject to unforeseen events. Should they occur, this may result in a change to the programme.
