NEW: Time lapse video of Penn Inn beams installation
Monday, 17/11/2014

In October 2014 the long-awaited beam lifts at Newton Abbot’s Penn Inn roundabout began.
Despite the poor weather, hundreds of people turned up over several nights to view the spectacle.
The first part of this programme saw the delivery of steel beams spanning the north and mid sections of the flyover.
In total a series of nine braced pairs were brought down from Chepstow. The beams varied in weight and length, the largest being 80 tonnes and 53m long. Three cranes were used during the operation, varying in size from 200 tonnes to 750 tonnes.
The final set of three braced pair beams forming the south span are scheduled to be installed later this month.
