NEW: timelapse video of Keyberry culvert operation
In March we were able to take a major leap forward on the project with the installation of the new Keyberry culvert, a significant component in the scheme.
Installation had originally been planned to take place later in 2014, but was rescheduled at short notice to coincide with the closure of the railway at Dawlish.
In total more than 10,000 tonnes of material was removed from beneath and adjacent to the railway track to make space for the concrete culvert sections. We were fortunate to source the necessary precast culvert sections, each weighing 27 tonnes, and during the 160-hour operation a total of 57 sections were installed by a team whose work load totalled 5,000 hours.
