Temporary road diversions and closures will be in place for the week commencing 24th July.
This will be for inspection and surfacing works at the three roundabouts of the Aller Interchange on the South Devon Highway.
Work will take place between 1900 and 0600 as follows:
- Monday 24th July: Traffic management at Aller roundabout - the roundabout will remain open with traffic management to protect the workforce.
- Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th July: closure of Aller junction slip roads, Langford and Hazelbank roundabouts and Kingskerswell Road to Decoy which passes under the South Devon Highway. Diversion routes in place.
- Thursday 27th July to Sat 29th July: contingency closures and diversions as above.
Signed diversions will follow a route via Penn Inn and Newton Road/Torquay Road, or through Decoy and include Aller roundabout, which will remain fully operational as will the South Devon Highway. Workers will be stationed at key points to manage HGV traffic.
Ian Yelf, Contracts Manager for Galliford Try, the company carrying out the work, said: “We have applied for these closure periods but hope to complete the inspections and associated works in a shorter time frame.
"The last three days are included in the programme as a contingency depending on weather and progress. It’s likely that we’ll work through the night to reduce the number of closures required.
“These minor works are part of our year one inspection and maintenance regime which will increase the longevity of the surfacing.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will try to get the work done as quickly and safely as possible.”
