Three bridges over the South Devon Highway will close briefly for routine maintenance work next week (week commencing 15th May).
Works are required to the expansion joints on the bridges at Yon Street, Maddacombe Road and the new Aller Link Road.
The A380 South Devon Highway will not be affected by these works.
For safety reasons road closures are required and signed temporary diversions will be put in place.
The closures planned are as follows:
- 23rd May 2017 from 1900 to 0300 – Yon Street Bridge will be closed and a signed temporary diversion route put in place.
- 24th May 2017 from 1900 to 0300 - Maddacombe Road will be closed and a signed temporary diversion route put in place. In addition, a closure of the new bridge on the Aller Link Road is planned for a period of about 2 hours between 1900 and 0300 with traffic able to use the old bridge on Aller Road.
- 25th May 2017 1900 to 0300 for either bridge as a contingency in case of weather.
Ian Yelf, Contracts Manager for Galliford Try which is carrying out the work, said: “To limit disruption we aim to complete the works by midnight each day, but require the longer periods for the closure as a contingency. Noisy work is planned to be restricted to the hours before 11pm.
“These minor works are part of our year one inspection and maintenance regime. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and plan to get the work done as quickly and safely as possible.”
