Time lapse footage of the removal of the Aller Bridge
The South Devon Link Road project team has released time lapse footage of some of the activity undertaken during recent engineering works.
The film below shows the removal of the old accommodation bridge, which was removed during the work over the Christmas holiday period.
After weeks of planning and preparation, removal started early on Christmas morning, with the bridge being demolished in less than 30 minutes.
Here is a time lapse video of the entire operation – 18 hours compressed into 1½ minutes. It gives you the ground-level view as Gilpin Demolition from Newton Abbot carried out a complex piece of work during very heavy downpours.
Since the project began, timelapse footage has been gathered at locations along the 5.5 km route, and some of these cameras were temporarily relocated to capture the action during the Christmas works.
