Archaeologists working in advance of the project discover finds near Aller Cross dating from both the second century AD Roman occupation and medieval times. Among the discoveries are a coin from the reign of Emperor Marcus Aurelius. All finds are carefully catalogued and recorded. They will form the basis for exhibitions to be shown at Kingskerswell, Torquay and Exeter.
Later in the month the remains of a medieval farmhouse are discovered at Edginswell Lane. Up to 50kg of pottery dating from the 13th century are among the finds, some of which originated in Southern France and Spain.
